Potty Training Advice
OK, all you moms out there . . . . give me your best potty training advice! What worked, what didn't work . . . . I need the 411. I have been reading a few books that have given me some helpful advice, but I really would like to get input from moms who have really been there! I am hoping to get started in a few weeks . . . let the fun begin : )

Suprise! Didn't even know I read your blog did ya? :) Here's how we potty trained Rowen. Rowen could sit in a wet pullup forever, but hated to have anything spilled on him. If he had a spill, he had to get his outfit changed. Over a long weekend (could be anytime since you are a SAHM), I put him in underwear and a t-shirt, so that if he peed, it would be more like a spill, and I made him sit on the potty every 1/2 hour (with a sticker as a reward). I thought I'd go crazy the first day, we had so many accidents (go buy lots of underwear first!). But, day two and three were much smoother, and he got the hang of it right away! Now, if we could only get him to stay dry through the night (he was potty trained 18 months ago)!
We did the same as Lacey with the big t-shirt idea. It took about 4 days doing it this way, so make sure you have four or more days that you can plan on being home and focused on it. I set the timer and would have him go to the bathroom (or at least try) every hour. As he started to understand the concept I waited longer and longer between time. Also, make sure he drinks a ton...it will make for more messes but also more opportunities to learn. Enjoy and don't worry everyone is potty trained at some point...IT WILL HAPPEN!
Okay, one more thing, Bear in the Big Blue House has a great potty training DVD. We borrowed it from our local library.
Have you read Potty Training 1-2-3 by the Ezzos? We're using it and it's working so far. It's a similar concept to what the others have described, but we are working on going on the potty for #2 first. Ellie is pretty consistent with this and it's going great. I plan to do the other part (#1) in the next week or so. :-)
